Blue Noir

Hello darlings...

These days I started collaboration with vintage inspired fashion brand Lindy Bop. I felt in love with their colorful and creative pieces inspired by the style from 20's to 60's.

My first Lindy Bop dress is 40's inspired, "Celeste" dress.

"Celeste" pencil dress is timeless combination of dark blue lace and satin details. The lace at the top is transparent and has a keyhole, underneath is a solid base in champagne color. The sleeves are wider and trimmed with satin ends that close with six buttons. Very fine dress, perfect for femme fatale/film noir combinations. I am also wearing Jazzafine.pieces full of verve fascinator which is inspired by the forties. Dress is so effective that it can easily be worn without any details.

For recreating noir and subtly gruesome atmosphere we visited abandoned garden, based in Zagreb old town core.

"Royal Palm" sarong dress

Hello darlings,

In today's post I proudly present you my collaboration with one of the best vintage brands in Europe - Vivien of Holloway.

I've always been a big fan of their creations, especially 40's style dresses . I just fell in love with their sarong dresses with wrap skirts and matching boleros, that are perfect for my "hourglass" body figure. I also adore tropical and tiki prints/style but here in Croatia you have to dig for dress/fabric of this sample.

(sarong/wrap skirts)

All Vivien of Holloway floral sarongs are inspired by 1940's starlet Dorothy Lamour, who starred in a number of South Pacific-themed films and musicals back in the Golden Era.

Accessories are style essence so I am wearing blue "Royal Palm" dress with amber jewelry set, red sandals ( hick heel, Carmen Miranda style) and RockRockabilly hair orchids.

Who is Vivien of Holloway?

(left: Vivien Wilson, Designer And Owner, Vivien Of Holloway)

A life-long Fifties lifestyle and fashion enthusiast, Vivien began sewing vintage-style clothes for herself at a mere ten years old. At eighteen, she opened her first shop in the world famous but now sadly gone Kensington Market, selling her hand-made 50s reproductions to fellow followers of 50's fashions. Many satisfied customers later, we can fast forward... oh, a couple of years to 2000, when the Vivien of Holloway brand was born, and Vivien's signature Fifties style soon took the world by storm.

Our focus has always been on producing beautiful dresses and separates with all the look and the charm of authentic vintage, but in a range of sizes to fit and flatter modern figures and ease of care to suit modern lifestyles.

With period perfect fabrics and cuts only slightly adapted from genuine vintage styles, in Vivien of Holloway you can be transformed into a cheesecake pin-up, a femme fatale, a saucy Mad Men-era office girl, or a WWII working girl – the choice is yours! All our clothes are proudly made in the UK and are loved by well-dressed women (and men!) across the globe; from rockabilly gals and swing dancers, to re-enactors and even celebrities! As well as producing gorgeous vintage-style clothing, we also pride ourselves on good old-fashioned customer service. For us, it's not just about looking the part, it's about the whole lifestyle. We're just trying to make the world a more fabulous and glamorous place, day by day.

Vintage with a modern twist

Hello darlings...

Today I am simple, in black...

I've been hunting for a perfect 1940's playsuit and finaly...got one!

My style inspiration was simplicity of famous lady in pants and hawksian woman Lauren Bacall.

Summer is near and I was looking for something simple, but elegant and comfortable, casual but feminine, so Miss Candyfloss "Sheila-Lee" playsuit is a great choice for me...now I can run, play, jump, stroll... without a hitch but also look very elegant! The playsuit has a pantskirt that allows comfort and at the moment it's my favourite piece in the closet.

The fabric is a medium weight soft fabric with 3% spandex allowing for magnificent comfort despite the one piece design of the garment. The playsuit has short cap sleeves sleeves, 2 front and 2 back pockets. Belt is also included.

Jasenka Arbanas and me took advantage of a sunny day (These spring days here are pretty rainy...) and walked along Zagreb old town and photos were created...

I combined playsuit with simple ALDO flats and Jazzafine. pieces full of verve fascinators. I am also wearing my favourite pink flamingo brooch.

Purse is Miss White by Woody Ellen.

Miss Candyfloss tries to keep it more about the brand than about the people behind it, as what they do is the most important. The results and the feedback they receive from customers is what matters, not the people behind the brand.

They found a style that is beautiful and feminine in; the 40s and 50s style. It is an era that feels like "home" for us. That is the reason why Miss Candyfloss balances it with modern style; 40's-50's with a modern twist.

Miss Candyfloss is a Swedish brand catering to modern women whom love 40´s and 50´s styled clothes, strive to develop exquisite classic feminine garments that are not mass produced. By incorporating care, thought and empathy in every stage of product development they are determined to create unique garments that distinguish from the rest.

Miss Candyfloss’s goal is to be the brand that supplies women unique and wearable apparel products that takes them back to the golden era of the glamorous dames and sexy pin-up styled ladies. Their long-term objectives are to deliver garments that can be worn by mothers and later handed down to daughters.

They are determined to inspire customer loyalty by delivering garments that look timeless yet have a long lifetime wearability. Modern fabric characteristics such as wrinkle resistance, soft hand, launderability, durability and wicking are important aspects for current lifestyles.
It's conceptualized in Sweden by a team of fashion and lifestyle professionals, who sell what they wear and wear what they love. Miss Candyfloss is designed in Sweden and manufactured in Transylvania.

Miss Noemi and Miss Adele (Miss Candyfloss owners and vintagers), were born in Transylvania and feel that it is important to give back to our previous community rather than outsourcing to low cost labor countries. They are very passionate about what they do and work very hard to accomplish goals. In order to succeed with anything in life, you need to put in blood sweat and tears.

At the end of the day, these lovely ladies do not call Miss Candyfloss our job, it is their life. So...choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.

I asked Noemi to give us advice for perfect pin up style, and she said; "I don't really have any pin up style advice. Just be comfortable in what you wear and your style because confidence and high self-esteem shines brighter than any type of lipstick. Nonetheless, you can never go wrong with red lipstick." I agree :)

Pavilion of Fun

Hello darlings, new blogpost today...

It was another bright and sunny day in Zagreb, perfect for colorful photosession.

Since it's spring and I am obsessed with bright colors so we decided to visit - funhouse. We find small oldlschool amusement park in my neighborhood, that perfectly fit in our story ...and fun began!

Our goal was to create tender but also whimsicaly wacky atmosphere. Unfortunately we did not have some cotton candy to spice up the atmosphere ...maybe next time :)

Would like to thank Madi (Amusement park) for hospitality and some six graders from neighbourhood who entertained us during breaks :D
Photos are by dear Jasenka Arbanas Photography and make up by my friend Monika Dugic.

Hair by me :)

Wonderfull bags are by talented Woody Ellen (I choose pink Honey Bird set). Woody Ellen is a Belgian illustrator and figurative painter. She creates her very own cabaret. A world where everything is a little more vivid and vibrant than in our own pragmatic surroundings. Just like thoughts pop in and out, she paints pictures. The story will finally tell itself. They are printed on water-resistant fibre.

Our dresses are made by Lady V London.

I am wearing
Teal Green Butterfly Swing Dress, ivory peticoat by Lady V London and white chiffon nylon scarf/bandana (vtg). Shoes by Guess. Earings by Glitter Paradise.

The dress features a full circle 1950s style flared skirt, a fitted bodice & really cute small capped sleeves - these dresses ooze so much style and class! The neckline at the front is square cut and the dress fastens with a zip at the back. We have photographed the dress using a 1950s style petticoat (which helps to show the fullness of the skirt) and wearing one with the dress will really create the 'Vintage' look - although it is certainly not essential and the dress sits very nicely without.

Tamara is wearing Emerald Green 'Rosanie' Dress with RockRockabilly hair accessories. Shoes by H&M, accessories are vtg. Brand New to Lady V London. The "Lady Vintage" 'Rosanie' Dress features a 1950s style flared skirt and hidden pockets! The dress has a high neck at the front and a V neckline at the back, which creates an extremely classy and elegant look. There is a zip fastening at the back. The dresses are true 1950s length. This dress is lined around the bust (not in the skirt).

Who is "V"?

Lady V London was founded in 2011, but garment manufacturing has been a part of our family for over 60 years. .

Lady V London was born by husband and wife team, Sergio and Victoria, from a vision to create fantastic classic dress designs at affordable prices. We believe in providing customers with stunning dresses in vintage designs – with original and highly desirable prints, and above all, fantastic quality. Lady V London aims to make your customer experience enjoyable from start to finish, and will always give you something extra providing you with a timeless dress that will be used time and time again, and provide you with many happy memories.

All dresses are designed in house at Lady V London. Until June 2013, all dresses had been made within the EU. We have never made our dresses outside of the EU and do not approve of making garments in China.

The London clothing trade has been a part of Sergio’s family for three generations, spanning six decades. Sergio’s grandmother, Christalla, travelled all the way from Cyprus to London in 1953, at the age of just 21 on the promise from a friend (who she conversed with only by letter) that she would be able to get a job in a factory in Warren Street, making garments for Marks & Spencer.

Sergio’s father worked for over 25 years as a freelance pattern cutter, and also owned a factory in the heart of East London himself. Sergio’s uncle is still a pattern cutter today for one of the biggest labels in the UK. In the mid-90s nearly all of the factories manufacturing garments in the UK were forced to close due to other countries joining the EU and trade becoming much cheaper abroad. As a result a lot of highly skilled workers lost their jobs. Lady V London is determined to bring the skilled workers back to work in London, and have invested in the future of London garment manufacture.Having never left Cyprus, or ever having gone on a overseas in any way, Christalla spent 10 days on a ship (on her own) on the way to her new life. Using only the skills she had been taught by her mother, Christalla spent fifteen happy years working in the London factory, and still owns her ‘Singer’ sewing machine. Sergio’s other grandmother also travelled over from Cyprus and worked in the ‘rag’ trade her whole life in London, working in some of London’s oldest clothing factories. She set up her own mini brick built factory at the bottom of her garden, where she made clothes for some of the high street’s best known names that are still in business today!

Making Lady Vintage in London culminates three generations’ worth of high quality women’s garment manufacture in London - this has been particularly close to our heart since the very beginning of Lady V London.

Lady V Vintage is a British Brand, a British Factory, and British Workers.

Hope you guys had fun and color overdose :)

LocoTropico

Hello darlings :)

It's time for another outfit post. We just got pics from "LocoTropico" photosession...actually Tamara hooked me on that crazy phrase.
As the summer is coming, I am forgetting dark, "macabre" colours in my closet and start to inspire myself with some bright colors.
Last year I was mad about teal blue, but this year I really have a crush for the tropical samples. (I am also inspired with energetic bombshell, Carmen Miranda. She was a Portuguese samba singer, dancer, Broadway actress, and film star who was popular from the 1930s to the 1950s)

This time I chose something colorful and kitsch because summertime is comming. In Croatia, especially in Zagreb, it's really hard to find a palm tree but however we found it. And not just one, we found more than ten exotic palms! :D

We nailed our photosession and did great cooperation again :)

Alluring Tamara is wearing deadly British Retro "Dead or Alive dress" and Jessika Hill's (RockRockabilly) hair flower with turquoise vintage bracelet (private).

I am wearing my favourite birds/parrots print "British Retro" Dress (glad that they are into tropical samples at the moment) "Birds of Eden" dress. I wanted little bit juicy, kitschy and avantgarde combo mix so I combined it with "Pleaser" "Delight" fetish heels. It's really hard to walk in those shoes...huh...These shoes are NOT made for walking but for beauty (and avantgarde), sometimes, we all must suffer.
"Miss White" bird/floral print bag is by Belgian artist Woody Ellen (more words about her creative work in one of the following posts).

Pepper set is by lovely Milushka. For the purposes of this photosession she did someting hot and spicy, which is not very common for her because she literally creates wearable sweets. :)

Earings (black confetti lucite) are by Glitter Paradise.

Until next post, treat yourself with a bit of kitsch!
